Parental involvement is crucial to every club. Clubs are always looking for volunteers to help with track meets, coordinate social events and organize fundraising. Volunteering to help your club is a great way to get involved, meet other parents and be a positive role model for your child. Please reach out to NFRONT Track Club coaches for ways to participate.
NFRONT Track Club participates in both AAU and USATF-sanctioned meets. Each organization has separate age divisions as listed below determined by year of birth (age on December 31st). The AAU Athletics Program is comprised of nine youth age divisions plus Open and Masters. USA Track and Field (USAFT) youth competitions typically take place in two-year age divisions, and athletes in the OPEN division are ages 19 to 30 and MASTERS division are ages 31 and up.
The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest, non-profit, volunteer, multi-sport event organizations in the world, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs. The AAU philosophy of “Sports For All, Forever” is now shared by nearly 800,000 members and 150,000 volunteers across 50+ sports programs and 55 U.S. districts.
Based in Indianapolis, USA Track & Field (USATF) is the National Governing Body for track and field, long distance running, and race walking in the United States. USATF encompasses the world's oldest organized sports, the most-watched events of Olympic broadcasts, the number one high school and junior high school participatory sport, and more than 30 million adult runners in the United States.
Turnaround time to receive is approximately 2-weeks. Rush orders may be possible depending on circumstances.

DownloadWho can join NFRONT Track Club?
NFRONT Track Club welcomes all boys and girls ages 6 - 18 to join the team. There are options for every ability level.
What are NFRONT Track Club team fees for the season?
NFRONT Track Club team fees for the 2024 season are $450 total for the first child enrolled. NFRONT Track Club membership for the summer includes AAU and USATF membership fee, event entry fees for 5 track meets (not including National or Junior Olympic Championships), training facility rental and insurance cost, and 4-piece team uniform set. Includes: jersey top, bottoms, pullover top, and warm-up pants.
What events are available for athletes to compete in?
NFRONT Track Club competes in the following events:
NFRONT Track Club does not currently compete in the pole vault or hammer throw.
Does my child have to practice 5 days a week?
No, practice on all five days are not required; however, it is highly encouraged. We want to be sure to prepare them for what to expect that weekend of the meet. Talk to the coaches about any scheduling questions you may have.
Does my child have to run in the competitive meets or can they just come out and run?
NFRONT Track Club offers a training only option at its track practices, but all athletes must be under an NFRONT or NFRONT Track Club waiver in order to be allowed on the track and participate in team activities during practice hours.
What type of clothing should my child wear to practices?
Taking care of the athlete’s feet is critical, so a good pair of running shoes is essential. After that, it is important to dress appropriately for workouts, and plan for the unexpected and possible weather conditions of practices. It is recommended that the shirt closest to the athlete’s body is a dri-fit/wicking material to will help pull sweat away from the athlete’s skin. On cooler days, additional layers are often needed, so the next layer should be a light fleece type of material. Finally, the layer on the very outside of the body should be a wind/rain layer like a light jacket. Each athlete should bring their own water bottle, and it is recommended that all athletes bring their own backpack or gym bag to keep personal items together.
What are track spikes, and do I need them?
Track & field athletes typically wear shoes that are lighter and more specialized for the event that they compete in. Some athletes even have more than one pair depending on the events – jumps, throws, and running all have different styles. The shoes are not required, but they give a big advantage with footing/traction and comfort that is needed during the various drills and workout activity as well as competition. The most common size for the actual metal spikes that are placed in the bottom are ¼ inch pyramid spikes. Replacement spikes and a wrench should also be purchased to maintain and periodically replace missing or damaged spikes.
Do I need to buy new equipment for my child to participate on a track club?
There are a few items that will be required, particularly for safety and good hygiene. Athletes would want their own comfortable athletic shoes and possibly throwing implements (i.e., discus, shot and javelin), however, please do not feel obligated to purchase expensive new items. We will have a LIMITED number of items available at each practice/meet whenever possible for use.
How does the team uniform and spirit wear work?
All NFRONT Track Club team uniform and club wear orders are direct to producer. Each year, new items become available, so the form will become available from coaches after the start of the season. Check the team website periodically for updates to the merchandise page.
Does NFRONT Track Club have sponsorship opportunities for athletes in need?
We will never deny any athlete the opportunity to run with our team because of financial hardship. Please reach out to the coaches for consideration and possible sponsorships available to families who may need assistance.
Is team transportation provided to the meets?
We do not provide transportation. Families should plan accordingly to find meet transportation.
How early do we need to arrive to the track meet?
Arrival will depend on the event(s) the athlete is entered. More information will be provided during the week of the meet.
What is the typical order of events for a summer meet?
Running events typically follow the order: 3000M, 100/110H, 100M, 1500M Race Walk, 800M, 4x100M Relay, 400M, 300/400H, 1500M, 200M, 4x400M Relay. Field events, on the other hand, can be arranged in a number of ways according to age, gender and the number of jump pits available at the venue.
How long do track meets last?
Track meets have many different teams, events, and age divisions competing and will last for a few hours to a whole day. The average meet runs from 8am - 4pm. An athlete may only need to attend for a few hours, but it is also possible that an athlete will compete in early events during the meet and then again toward the end of the meet. Families should be prepared to campout all day. It is also important to note that some of the "qualifying" meets are spread over two or more days. Be sure to check the posted meet schedule for dates.
What should I bring to the track meet?
Track meets are hours-long events, so it is important for athletes to come prepared (after a good, carbohydrate-rich breakfast, of course). You should bring proper foods and drinks for your athlete (e.g., water, pretzels, fruit, bagels, trail mix, crackers, orange slices, raisins, etc.); weather protection (e.g., canopy/umbrella, sunscreen, blanket, hat, sunglasses, etc.); comfort items (e.g., portable chair, pillow, cooler, seat cushion, insect repellant, etc.); and stuff to keep everyone entertained (e.g., books, puzzles, games, iPads, homework, etc.). Concession stands are typically available at track meets.
Where can I find meet results?
Results for all track meets will be posted in an app available at each track meet. A QR code is usually posted in locations throughout the meet.
What if I can't make it to a track meet?
Whether due to sickness or family vacation, it's not a problem if an athlete can't make a meet; however, be aware that the athlete must attend certain "qualifying" meets (State/District/Regional) for a chance to advance to the AAU or USATF Junior Olympics.
How do I know which events my runner should participate in at a meet?
In general, runners should only compete in events they have practiced and enjoy doing.
Why is my athlete competing in the 13 or 13-14 age division when they are currently 12?
For all age divisions, athletes are organized by the age they will turn during that calendar year. If a 12-yr old athlete turns 13 by December 31st, then they will have to compete as a 13 to 14-yr old during the summer season.
Where do athletes warm-up at during the track meets?
At track meets, competitors must warm-up outside the track area once the running events begin.
Where do athletes get their awards at the track meet?
Awards, medals, or trophies will be presented to the top place winners in each age and event category. Check the meet results for place and awards will be available at the awards tent.
Are locker rooms available to change and shower at practice/meets?
There will be no locker rooms, dressing rooms or shower space available. All athletes will be responsible for their own clothing and valuables.
How should I prepare for weather at the track meet?
It can be hot & sunny, cold & rainy or anything in between, it is best to have a canopy/tent that the athletes can use to stay out of the elements and relax between events. We do not want the athletes running around between events and getting too tired before they compete. Note that track only cancels in the event of lightning or excessive heat, but events are generally held rain or shine. It can be unpredictable in the Fall, so plan for the extremes; cold in the morning and warm/hot in the afternoon. We usually have our team EZ-up tent setup, but you are welcome to bring yours as well.
How do I know if practice is being held or is canceled?
Please make sure to check your email often, as Coach will communicate with parents all important information, such as practice cancellations, changes, or key information. However, sometimes information needs to be sent last minute. Be sure to download the Band APP on your phone so you don't miss any key NOTIFICATIONS.
Is outside food allowed to be brought to the meet?
Outside food is generally allowed; however, there is usually a concession stand available at each meet for food and drink purchases. There is no grilling allowed.
How can I help ensure my child achieves peak performance?
You can help ensure your child performs at his/her best at meets by providing a carbohydrate-rich breakfast to begin the day. It’s also important that while at the venue he/she remains in the shade and engages in minimal physical activity when not stretching, warming up or competing. And most importantly, encourage and support your child – not only the day of the meet but throughout the season.
What type of beverages should athletes have or avoid?
Water is preferred. Avoid carbonated beverages such as soda. Also, it is suggested that athletes dilute electrolyte drinks such as Gatorade or PowerAde with some water as the high sugar contents often lead to cramping.
What should track athletes eat or not eat before a practice/meet?
There are many different philosophies on pre-competition nutrition. However, a good basic rule of thumb is to only eat foods that easily digest before a practice or competition. Examples include bananas, eggs, and oatmeal. Avoid foods with high fat and sugar levels before a competition.
What should athletes eat after a race?
Simple sugars within a half hour to hour after competition such as those in fruits, bagels, etc. are recommended. Foods containing antioxidants will help your athletes replenish their fuel sources quickly and decrease muscle fatigue. Gatorade and other sports drinks are good after races as well.
